Ya'll, I finally finished my Featherweight. Finally. And I L-O-V-E it!
Okay, it really didn't take that long when I take in to account that I took a month off from knitting it. I shredded my cornea at the beginning of July (yeah, I don't recommend doing that). Once that was healed enough to knit again, I couldn't decide how I wanted to finish the edges - hem, cuffs and collar. I debated feather and fan for a long time, finally decided on that, but then couldn't decide if I wanted to add the texture of some purl rows or not. I decided to go for it and I'm super happy!
The pattern is so, so wonderful! I love that it's so customizable - I opted to make the body and sleeves longer, and changed the edging. I'm already planning another one.
With that, here are my notes and some adjustments I'll make next time.
- I got gauge with size 6 needles, but I think the fabric would look better if I had used 5s. So next time I'll use 5s.
- I could have knit the entire sweater from 1 skein had I been more careful about it. I had about 6 rows of the collar left when I needed to start a second skein. In total that used approximately 10 grams, which I'm sure I could have "found" elsewhere in the sweater. Boo hiss.
- I’m not overly happy with the way the M1s look in the FO, so when I knit this again I’ll pick another increase - maybe kfb?
- I also wish the fronts were a big wider, so when I do this again I'll add more front stitches.
- For the love of God, next time I will slip 1 at the beginning of each row to make picking up the collar easier. I HATE picking up stitches and this was no exception. I don't know why the pattern doesn't call for that.

The rest of the post is the technical stuff, including how I did the edging.
Stitch counts at sleeve division: f: 31 (+1) sl: 58 b: 106 (+4) sl: 58 f: 31 (+1)
Sleeves: knit to 16.5 inches, then knit lace pattern for 1.5 inches
Cuffs (multiple of 18 stitches):
1st row (RS) K.
2nd row K.
3rd row *K2tog 3 times, yo, k1 6 times, k2tog 3 times; repeat from * to end.
4th row K. Repeat rows 1-4 four times, then row 1. Bind off using Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind Off.
Collar (multiple of 18 stitches):
knit in stockinette for 1/2 inch
1st row (RS) K
2nd row K
3rd row k2, *k2tog 3 times, yo k1 6times, k2 tog 3 times repeat from * to last 2 stitches, k2
4th row: K repeat rows 1-4 four times, knit 2 rows in stockinette, bind off using Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind Off
Knit body in stockinette for 14 inches, then knit hem.
Hem (multiple of 18 stitches):
1st row (RS) K
2nd row P
3rd row *k2tog 3 times, yo k1 6times, k2 tog 3 times repeat from *
4th row: P repeat rows 1-4 for 3 inches, then knit rows 1-2 once more, bind off.
You might notice on the collar that I k2 before starting my pattern. I had 4 extra picked up stitches, so instead of trying to math it all out, or change the number of stitches, I just ignored those stitches and knit them plain. It gives the very bottom of the sweater a straight edge. Kind of a happy accident to work out that way.
